I think Wellington wins the prize for the best weather at any of our rodeos this semester. You couldn't ask for anything better ~ especially for the last weekend of October! I even had a few club sponsors ask for the same forecast for when they host rodeos. Hopefully, they will get their request.
I can't begin to thank everyone individually for their help this weekend. A Directors' Rodeo is definitely a group effort and it takes everyone to get through the day. Rough figures for Saturday show us to be about even on expenses and income, so it turns out to be a good thing that we ran our own concession stand. I appreciate everyone coming through at the last minute to bring supplies and work their shifts. It really does make an impact on the bottom line.
Sunday we were fortunate enough to have Bob and Patty Kasch take charge of the concession stand and make use of the leftover items from Saturday. I don't know everyone who helped out from time to time but I did hear of 4 youngsters that worked most of the day. I will try to get their names posted on here to give them some recognition for their hard work. The proceeds from the concession stand will benefit the general fund for the Wrangler Division (which translates into year end awards.)
The Wrangler Division doesn't have the manpower of Tri-State so it was very pleasing to see all the parents and older brothers and sisters helping out in the arena on Sunday. There were also a few of the high school directors that were able to stay over and offer their assistance. Thank you!
Jon and Marci Sessions of Wellington were outstanding help getting ready for last weekend. No matter what I asked for, they came through ~ even at the last minute. Their son, Reed, is in the 6th grade so we will have the benefit of working with this wonderful family for many years to come.
Well, it is time to get to work on results and checks. With two days of rodeos to figure, it will be Tuesday before I can get them in the mail. Your entry fees will be deposited no later than Wednesday and I should have points updated by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
After visiting with several of you over the last few weeks, I know I am not the only one suffering from "rodeo burnout." I am looking forward to having some time off and getting caught up on all of the things that don't get done during rodeo season. Don't worry, though. You will still be hearing from me because even though we won't be going to rodeos, there are still things that need to be turned in. I will be sending out reminder in a few weeks and will continue to post on here. Enjoy your time off.

NOTES FOR WELLINGTON
No matter how hard I try to take the easy route and have someone else run the concession stand this weekend, it just didn't pan out. So that leaves it up to each of the clubs to chip in and help out. I have listed time slots for the admission gate and concession stand on the TS News page. There is also a list of items each club will need to provide to the concession stand. Your club sponsor should contact you and let you know where you are needed to work and what items you will need to bring. Anyone who is not assigned to work the front gate or concessions will be asked to volunteer their time at the arena. We will need help setting poles and barrels, untying calves, manning the out gate and stripping chutes, and so on.
There will not be a concession stand on Sunday for the Wrangler rodeos unless a volunteer or group steps forward wanting to handle all of the details as their own fundraiser. Sorry, but I can't require the high school clubs to stay over another day to run things for us.
GROUP PHOTOS
We will be taking a group photo of all of the high school members on Saturday during the 30-minute break. Please be ready and in proper dress code. I promise we won't postpone it again. This is our last chance to get this done this semester.
We will be taking a group photo of all of the Wrangler junior high members on Sunday during the break between rodeos. Same story as above: make sure you are in proper dress code and bring your smile with you.

Hats off to the Canadian Rodeo Club for hosting two rodeos for us last weekend. Putting together one rodeo is not an easy task but two rodeos plus the Forever Cowboys event on Saturday night had to be especially daunting. Thank you for being so organized. You all made it look easy.
Official scores and results have been posted and I am pretty sure I got to the post office just under the wire so that your checks went out in today's mail. Your entry fees will be deposited on Tuesday.
Wellington entries close this Saturday - October 20th - for those of you who didn't take advantage of entering early at Canadian. All Wrangler Division entries are also due on the 20th. Don't forget that Wellington is a Directors' Rodeo which translates into "We need your help to put on this rodeo." I will be getting in touch with each of the club sponsors to let them know what your time slot is for manning the admission gate. We will need help inside the arena throughout the day but I will rely on volunteers and not try to assign workers to each event.
We actually had a 50/50 drawing on Sunday thanks to Kelli Lanham and LaDon Paige for selling tickets. Congratulations to Mel Yates of Texhoma for having the winning ticket. He won $310 and the scholarship fund won $310. Thanks to everyone who participated. Hopefully we can have another big jackpot at Wellington to finish off the semester.

I missed you guys last weekend but I certainly did not miss the wind and dirt that always accompanies the rodeo in Gruver. I was 30 miles from Houston and the humidity pretty much choked you if you were out of the air conditioning too long but it was worth the sacrifice to miss a few days of blowing dirt. Plus, I came home to a nice little cool front.
Since it will take me a few days to get back to a normal sleep pattern, I decided to stay up late and finish the Gruver rodeo. Checks will be mailed on Tuesday and your entry fees will be deposited no later than Wednesday. Results and official scores have been posted and I will have points updated on Friday.
Thank you to the Gruver club for providing buckles to each event winner at their rodeo. If you weren't there in the afternoon to claim your buckle, I will have it at Canadian this weekend.
I will be sorting through the grades that were turned in (on time) at Gruver and I will have a list of the ones that are missing. If your name is on that list when I get to Canadian, YOU WILL NOT COMPETE until I have a copy of your grades in my hand. The 'grace period' ends on Friday.
I will be in the office all week working diligently to get the Canadian rodeos set up for this weekend. Give me a call if you need anything,

Everyone, please read this previous post regarding report cards:
Since grades are due before everyone will have their report cards, here is a copy of the "Request for Grades" form. A progress report will work if your school sends those out.
I am aware of when the six weeks ends but Tri-State rules state that grades must be turned in after the 4th rodeo which was Boys Ranch. I'm sure this has been a problem throughout the years which is why a previous secretary came up with the "Request for Grades" form.

I don't know about all of you, but personally, I had a pretty good day on Saturday. The Boys Ranch Rodeo team members and volunteers did an outstanding job of keeping things running smoothly all day. Even with the late hours, I think the Wrangler members had a good time and were happy to be there.
Boys Ranch provided event champion buckles to all of the high school and junior high winners. This is a rare treat for the winners and their appreciation showed in their eyes when they picked up their buckles. If you would like to send a thank you note for your buckle, the address is Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Attention: Tammy Trevino - Rodeo Team, PO Box 10, Boys Ranch, TX 79010.
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but we had a little trouble with our horn in the afternoon performance. The backup timer that we use for the 30-second time limit decided it had had enough and quit on us. There were a few times that the horn didn't go off when it should have, but please be assured that all of the times recorded were accurate and any times missed due to equipment malfunction (or distraction while working on the equipment) were re-run.
On that note (kind of), mistakes will be made. We are all human. If you ever see something in the results or points that I post that you feel may be incorrect, please call me. I can admit that I am not perfect and it may simply be a typing error. It is much easier to correct a mistake sooner than later so please don't hesitate to call me.
I think I am finally getting in the groove where I can get things done. My body is adjusting to working on less sleep than it had during the summer months (with the help of a small increase in caffeine.) Results have been posted and checks have been mailed. Your entry fees will be deposited today, as well. I will be going out of town on Wednesday so that means I need to get to work on the Gruver rodeo so I can deliver it Tuesday to Kelli Lanham. She will be filling in for me at Gruver. Don't forget your grades this weekend. I will have the office phone forwarded while I am gone so you can still call if you need anything. Have a great week!
