I am on my way out of town again but before I leave, I am putting CDs in the mail with the photos from the night activities at Abilene.  I hope you enjoy them.  If you don't get one, give me a call or have someone you know who got one make you a copy.

I will be in Gallup a few days for the Wrangler Division National Finals and then on to Window Rock for a pro rodeo.  Cell service is sketchy so I will leave the office phone alone so you can leave messages there or you can e-mail me.  If you are in a hurry for a response, I suggest sending an e-mail.

Region 1 has FOUR Wrangler Division contestants competing at Gallup.  Matti Smith is in the barrels on Wednesday morning and evening.  Kellie Collier is in the poles on Monday evening and Friday morning and Aaron Macy and Brent Ivy are in the team roping on Monday evening and Friday morning.  I will get their times posted here so everyone will know how they are doing throughout the week.

I am updating the website with a different computer while I am out of town this summer and not all of the formatting is carrying over.  If you see anything that looks off, just be patient with me while I get it all corrected.

Thanks,

Well, I'm off to Abilene today.  I will forward the office phone before I leave.  I will try to keep the website updated throughout the week for family and friends at home.   I make no promises about being able to keep up on a daily basis but I will do my best.  See you all on Sunday!

Happy early Father's Day!

Checks were mailed yesterday so hopefully, you will receive them today.  Entry fees are going in the bank today.

I want to congratulate all of the Tri-State Finals Champions and Year End Champions again,  You don't get much time to bask in the glory of your hard earned titles before we rush off to Abilene.  But you certainly deserve recognition.  Congratulations!

Abilene Reminders:

Good Luck to everyone!

Thanks to all the tri-state kids and parents for your concern and prayers for Dane after he was hurt Saturday night.  The prayers reached God and He showed Dane mercy.  Your concern meant a great deal to us.  Dane said before going to Vernon that it would be a good weekend.  When a bull steps on your head, and there are no head injuries, and when you have a fracture to the vertebrae in your back and walk away, you realize just how great of a weekend it was.  Thanks everyone.

I still can't believe how our Finals weekend began.   Not that we don't expect thunderstorms that have the potential to change up our schedule a little bit but who would have thought the entire town (and area towns) would lose power?  Hats off to the clean up crews that worked so quickly to clear the debris at the arena and the power company working around the clock to restore electricity as quickly as possible.

Thanks to the Richardsons for providing their generator to supply power for the sound system.  I don't know who's generator was brought over for the air conditioner, but thank you also.  The "sweat box" was at the wrong angle to catch any kind of breeze and with the heat coming off the equipment up there, it was unbearable.  I appreciate everyone doing what they could to help us get started with that first performance.

Overall, I think it was a great weekend.  It all happens so fast that I am pretty much wiped out by the time I get home as I am sure most of you are too.  I am in a time crunch right now, but I will post more details and thank you announcements later this week.  For now, congratulations to all of the new Tri-State Champions and our 2008-2009 Miss Tri-State, Ann Vincent.

As we received updates from the Wrangler Division State Finals in Gonzales, we tried to spread the word, but for those of you who haven't heard, Region 1 had a pretty good week.  We had several who got points in the rounds and quite a few who qualified for the short go.  I will try to get a complete list posted this week or find a link to a site that already has complete results posted.  Congratulations to State Champion Team Ropers Aaron Macy and Brent Ivy!  They will be representing Texas at the National Finals along with Matti Smith in the barrels and Kellie Collier in the polesKellie was also the Girl's Rookie of the Year for Texas.  Great Job and Good Luck at Nationals!

I have to leave this afternoon for meeting in Colorado but I will be back tomorrow night to finish things up.  Each event has equal added money of $1000.  I should be able to get the payoff figured and post results before I leave today.  Please call if you see anything that doesn't look right.  It it much easier to correct mistakes now than later.  Checks will be mailed on Wednesday morning so I will not deposit your entry fees until then.  For those of you going on to Abilene, you should receive your checks before you leave this weekend.

I leave for Abilene on Friday and except for a few days here and there, I am out of town until the end of July.  I will forward the office phone while we are in Abilene and will have my computer for checking e-mail and updating the website.

Congratulations, again, to our winners and all of our finalists.  You guys did a great job last weekend.

Only a few days to go until we meet in Vernon for the Finals.  Hope you all are staying cool in this record-breaking heat.

I know I don't have to ask this because we don't have trouble makers in our Association;  but please be on your best behavior at the hotel.  It is completely booked for the weekend with our group and a wedding party.  Sometimes the excitement of the weekend gets a little out of hand and you don't realize how disturbing you may be to other guests.  Please be considerate of the staff and the guests you may encounter.

State Finalists:  bring your mirrored aviator sunglasses with you this weekend.  We want to get a group photo with everyone wearing them to use at Abilene.
