I mailed entry envelopes to everyone yesterday.  If you are missing any fundraising items, I included an extra note to help you get off the ineligible list.

If you haven't already sent in your semester report card, I need it ASAP.  It needs to be a copy of what you get from the school, not the generic form that the teachers sign.

I am leaving in the morning for a couple of weeks.  I get to work the pro rodeos in Lake Charles, LA and Belton, TX but before that, I get to go to my "vacation ranch" in Sonora.  I won't have phone service until next Tuesday so please be patient with me about returning phone calls.

I have all of the fundraising items pages updated through today's mail.  Anything that comes in beginning tomorrow will not show up until I get back on February 16th.

Keep up the good work in your classes and have a happy Valentine's Day.

After looking at about a hundred report cards in the last week, I just have to say "Good Job!" to everyone.  I am so impressed by the number of advanced classes our members are taking and the grades they are getting in them.  So far we do not have a single member who is ineligible due to grades.  Keep up the good work!

I have been notified that there is a shortage of contestants for the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant.  There are three age categories:  9 to 13, 14 to 18 and 19 to 24.  Here is a link to their website:

Check it out for details if you are interested in the idea.  This is a huge scholarship pageant.  Over $15,000 for college to the winner.  If you know of someone who is not a member of our association, but may be a likely contestant, please pass on the information.

Semester report cards are due next Monday.  Make sure you get yours in on time.  For those of you with outstanding fundraising items, the late fines increase beginning February 1st.

I have the fundraising and ineligible lists updated.  If you have turned in your items and are still showing to be ineligible, you may not have paid your late fines.

There are several members who turned in money for ads but no artwork.  You have until February 15th to turn it in or your money becomes a donation.

Seniors:  don't put off working on your scholarship applications.  Every year I hear from members who missed the deadline.  There is no excuse for that when you have 4 months to complete them.  Deadline for Texas and Tri-State is April 1st.  The scholarship page has links to other rodeo scholarships.  I will try to find more and get them listed for you.

SCHEDULE CHANGE!!  The dates for the Canyon high school and Happy junior high rodeos have changed.  The correct dates are now Saturday March 7th for the high school rodeo hosted by the Canyon Club and Sunday March 8th for the two Wrangler Division rodeos hosted by the Happy Club.  The location is still the Arena of Life in Amarillo.

The weekend of March 14-15 is now open.  I have listed information for a rough stock rodeo school that is March 12-14 in Twin Falls, Idaho, at the bottom of each association news page.

I will have the fundraising pages and Ineligible List updated by Tuesday night.  Please call if you are on the Ineligible List and don't know why.  There are many high school members who did not realize they had to sell ads for both Tri-State and Region 1 and a few junior high members who did not realized they had to sell ads for the region program and the state program.  All of your fundraising requirements must be met for you to be eligible to compete this spring.

Semester report cards are due by January 26th for all members.  If you already have yours, please send it to me now to avoid being late.

I will be sending entry envelopes by the end of January to get you started for the spring rodeos.  High school members get new rotations so please be thinking about your other activities for the semester and plan your first rodeo performance accordingly.  But remember, not everyone will get their request for a rotation.  Keep in mind you can request a rotation change if a school event creates a conflict with your scheduled performance.

Congratulations to Nate Perry and Ashlee Howard for being chosen as captains for the Region 1 High School Wrangler All Star Team.
