I am leaving for Gallup today for the Wrangler Division National Finals. Good luck to Lacey, Teryn, Aaron, Brent and Jake! I will try to post updates or links to results as I get them.
I have posted the results that I had jotted down from Abilene on the Region 1 News page. It looks like the link on the state website isn't showing final results yet.
I am gone for the majority of July but will be posting on here and will have the office phone forwarded to my cell and will be checking e-mails. The summer will be over before you know it and it will be time to start fresh again with a new season. Try to mix in a little summer vacation with all of your rodeo plans if you can. One of the bonuses that comes with all of our travel is getting to see different parts of our wonderful United States. I recommend trying to be a "tourist" when time allows. It is fun!
Have a great summer!
P.S. I just spoke with Talley Brown. She said Myles is doing really well and they want to thank everyone for their prayers, calls, cards and well wishes. The doctors' original estimate was that he would be out for six weeks, but it sounds like Myles is doing much better than expected which is good news! Please keep him in your prayers.

I just have a few notes before I leave for Abilene today:
A spur was found behind the bucking chutes at Vernon. If you are missing one, give Bobby a call at 940-552-7362.
I haven't heard any updates on Myles Brown's condition but they were going to keep him in the hospital in San Antonio for several days under sedation and monitor his hand for staph infection. Once I hear something, I will either get it posted here or send an e-mail to everyone.
The Wrangler Division state website has the finals results posted - with errors. They are in the process of correcting these but I did see the Myles Brown won the AQHA Horse of the Year. I did not know this when I posted the national qualifiers earlier this week. Congratulations Myles!
Drive safely. I'll see everyone in Abilene soon.

I apologize for not getting updates posted yesterday. My priority was getting the payoff checks in the mail - which I did and everything kind of fell apart.
I have updated the results page to show the payoff. And like I warned you on Monday, it does not look as good as past years but we were able to add $400 to each event. Hopefully next year things will turn around and that figure will go back up.
I want to apologize to any of you who had problems with the Best Western last weekend. I heard from several who had trouble checking in and some who had reservations but were not given a room and had to go someplace else. I am currently dealing with my own issues with them for the Association's rooms. I am making a promise right now that they will not be our host hotel next year and I will never stay there again.
INJURY UPDATES:
Chandler Bownds suffered 2 broken front ribs, 4 or 5 back ribs and a collapsed lung at Vernon. His lung should be close to 100% now. He is out of competition for four weeks and will not be able to compete at Abilene but he will be there throughout the week with the Bloomer display.
Montana Medrano was kicked by his first saddle bronc horse at Vernon and looked like he had a baseball under his right eye. He is still competing and should look very pretty for the Ariat Queen contest on Tuesday night at Abilene.
Roy Don Hendley was smashed between some gates during the bull riding at Vernon. I haven't talked to him but I heard he is very sore - obviously - but will be fine.
Myles Brown had an accident Tuesday and his left thumb was cut off. His surgery went very well. Myles qualified for Nationals in ribbon roping and goat tying. It is too early to determine his competition status. Please pray for a speedy recovery.
Okay, now you can go to your respective news pages for more details.

I hope everyone made it home safely from Vernon and Gonzales. I went to bed early last night and got up late this morning. I definitely needed the sleep!
I have posted the official scores and results from Vernon. I don't have the payoff figured yet because I need to get all of the invoices paid first and see what is left for possible added money. Prepare yourselves, though. It is not going to be as good as past years. The weak economy has finally caught up with us. I should have checks in the mail tomorrow and your entry fees will be deposited no later than Wednesday.
I want to congratulate all of our finalists for Tri-State and Wrangler Division. I hope you all enjoyed the past year. To keep this page from getting too long-winded, I will be posting notes on each of the news pages tomorrow. So check back for updates.
For now, congratulations to the six Wrangler members who are headed to Gallup, NM for Nationals:
Myles Brown ribbon roping and goat tying
Lacey Custer in ribbon roping
Jake Harris in calf roping and chute dogging
Brent Ivy in breakaway and team roping
Aaron Macy in team roping
Teryn Tate in breakaway roping
STATE CHAMPIONS
Aaron Macy & Brent Ivy - team roping
Myles Brown & Lacey Custer - ribbon roping

I am headed to Vernon today and praying that I have everything that I need for this weekend. The next three days are going to fly by and before you realize it, the whole summer will be over. Time's like these are when you have to make yourself stop and take a breath and live in the moment. Good luck to all you competing this weekend!
Mikey
P.S. And don't forget to bring your auction item with you to check-in tomorrow.
