The Finals are in the record books for another year and Team Texas won 2 of the 3 team titles:  Girls and Overall.  The Boys team finished third.  Congratulations to everyone on a championship season.

Now it is time to start all over again.  The Board is meeting next week so I should have membership packets in the mail by the end of next week.  All past members with eligibility remaining will receive a packet.  Any new members need to call the office or e-mail me a mailing address to receive membership information.  I will confirm receipt of all e-mails requesting membership applications.

It looks like we will have the same clubs as last year with the addition of a new club in Lubbock.  A few clubs have new sponsors this year so I will be getting the contacts page updated to reflect those changes.  If you are new and don't know which club to join, call the office and I will direct you to nearest one.  But ultimately, it is your choice which club to join.

Enjoy your last few weeks of summer.  I'm certainly going to try.  This is the equivalent of the week between Christmas and New Year's for me.  I have lots of filing to do to wrap up last year's season and then starting my lists of things to do for the upcoming season.

Good luck to the JRCA members competing this weekend in Vernon.

I always have such good intentions to keep this website updated when I am out of town, but sometimes I just get too busy.  With the hours we work here in Farmington, I will choose sleep over extra work any day.  But I will try to do better the rest of the week.

Texas is off to a good start after four performances.  I have posted the links for the audio broadcast and the daily results on the Region 1 news page.  So check them out if you have a minute or two.  Where I work is about 1/2 mile or so from the arena so it is pretty cool to get to listen to the rodeo on the internet.  Technology can be a wonderful tool!

P.S.  Congratulations to Nate Perry and Carley Richardson for their success at Shawnee last week!

I am one of those people who need deadlines for motivation so I have been slow getting things done this week.  Plus with the 100+ heat, I just don't feel like working during the normal hours of the day.

I finished up the copies of the "bonus" photos from Abilene last night so they will go in the mail on Monday.  These are photos from the Dodge truck push, Ariat games, Special Kids Rodeo and the Grand Entry.  If I saw your face in one of the photos, you got a CD with everything on it.  These are just fun photos and you have permission from Jennings Photography to do what you want with them.

Several of our members will be competing at Shawnee for the IFYR next week.  Good luck to all of you and try to stay cool and hydrated.

Ahhh.  It is so nice to be back in Texas - even if it is hotter and more humid.  I will actually be home for an entire week before going to Farmington.  It has been years since I've been home this long in July and I am really going to enjoy it.  I have a pretty long "to do" list but that won't stop me from relaxing a bit, too.

Congratulations to Teryn Tate.  She placed 4th in the short go at Gallup and finished fourth in the nation with a total of 10.501 on three calves.  Brent Ivy and Aaron Macy took a no time in the short go but still finished in 12th place in the team roping.  Good job to all of you!  I hope you had a good time in Gallup.

As I look around my office at all of the things that need to be put away, I see something I brought home from Abilene that was left in the grand stands.  I'm not going to say what it is, but if you purchased something from a vendor and didn't make it home with the item, give me a call.  If what you are missing is the same thing I have with me, then I will make sure to get it back to you.

I want to congratulate all of our members who have been competing at Gallup this week.  I'm sorry I didn't get any more links posted like I promised earlier this week.  But I will be home all next week and will make up for it then.

Before the short go tonight, Texas is in second place for combined points.  The boys' team is in second and the girls' team is in third.

The top 20 in each event advance to the short go tonight.

Just missing the short go were Jake Harris in the chute dogging (24th) and Lacey Custer and Aaron Macy in the ribbon roping (29th).  Jake ended up 45th in the calf roping and Brent was out of the running in the boys' breakaway roping with a couple of no times.

Hope you all have a fun, safe and Happy Fourth of July!
