I haven't been posting details on this page lately, but I've been making updates on the Finals pages for each associaiton.  I've also sent some e-mails this week with new information about Abilene and some reminders about things I need for the Tri-State Finals program.

Check out the link at the bottom of the Tri-State Finals page where it talks about the Dream Team.  It has been updated to show the contestants on each team.  Please encourage your friends who are not part of Tri-State to participate.  This fundraiser is open to anyone who likes fantasy sports leagues.  You can bring their entry fees to Vernon and sign them up.  Teams will be drawn on Saturday night and posted before the Sunday performance.

One of the e-mails I sent this week provided information about the NRA Shooting Contest for high school members at Abilene.  I hope we have enough interest to fill the 10 spots available for each contest.  This is a great way to get more members to the State Finals.  You do not have to be qualified in a rodeo event, just a current member in good standing with THSRA.  Forms can be found on the Region 1 News Page.

The 50/50 ticket from Lubbock has been claimed.  Congratulations to Kirt Espenson!

Region 1 is sending 51 contestants to Abilene in June.  Tri-State has 80 finalists.  Congratulations to all of you and thank you to all of our members who have competed throughout the year.  It wouldn't have been the same without you.

Tri-State event leaders need to send in a photo for your event page in the finals program.  I will be sending reminder e-mails when I get back from Wyoming.

I've still got quite a bit of work to get done before I leave in the morning, so that is all I have to post for now.  Have good rest of the week.  And try not to blow away tomorrow.

Whew!  Big sigh of relief....  Results, payoffs and deposits for the last regular rodeo of the year are done.  Now all the focus turns to Tri-State, junior high and high school finals.  Let the fun begin!

Thank you to all of the members of the Lubbock Rodeo Club for their hospitality and hard work on Sunday.  I didn't actually see any of the rodeo, but I heard everything went pretty well.  Slowing things down just a little bit wouldn't have hurt my feelings any but I'm sure everyone else was very pleased with the quick pace.  We should all be especially greatful to the Lubbock Club for providing such a nice facility for our rodeo.  I don't even want to think about how bad it would have been to try to rodeo outdoors in that wind.  Yuck!  This is a new club for Tri-State this year.  Thank you to sponsors Denise Salmon and Dorinda Sherwood for accepting the challenge and giving our members one more rodeo to go after those valuable points.  Get ready for next year.  Lubbock has already committed to a high school and junior high rodeo for spring 2012.

I knew the 50/50 jackpot would be a good one but I had no idea just how good until today.  Since it wasn't claimed at the rodeo, counting the money was one less thing that needed to be done yesterday.  The winning ticket was white # 526687.  Seniors who were selling white tickets need to get the word out to their players to check numbers.  The total jackpot was $1172 - a record amount.  The holder of the matching ticket will take home $586.  BUT... it has to be claimed by April 21st.  That's 10 days from today.

I want to thank everyone for their patience yesterday.  It certainly wasn't as hard as it could have been, plus I had several helpers keeping me going throughout the day.  I didn't keep up with everything as well as I would have liked, but after several phone calls on the way home last night, I'm pretty sure all of the positions are filled for Tri-State and THSRA finals.  I'll find out how good I did when I start organizing all of the entry forms.

Time for me get back to work.  I leave for Wyoming on Thursday and there is a lot that needs to be done between now and then.  Looming deadlines work wonders on my motivation.  Watch for e-mails throughout the next several weeks.  I'll be sending reminders, finals details and requests for information.

This is our last regular season rodeo so there is a lot that needs to be done on Sunday

Bravo!  Thanks for doing so well on the dress code on our warmest weekend of the semester.  I really appreciate it.  Vernon's setup allows me to see more of the actual rodeo, as well as the area behind the timed event end, so I can see who is - and who is not - in dress code.  I know it requires extra effort for some of the moms which makes me appreciate it even more.  Everyone is doing great following the rules and it makes me very happy.  Thanks, again!

I thought we had a pretty awesome weekend in Vernon.  Granted, I did have air conditioning and that really helps my mood, but everything just went very well which translates into less stress for me.  Oh, and no tears from me, either.  I give credit for that to a good night's sleep on Saturday and a lot of patience from all of you on Sunday.

I was able to stay fairly caught up on Sunday until those last few events and by then it just isn't possible anymore.  I appreciate everyone taking it easy on me and waiting patiently until I was ready to start accepting entry forms.

Congratulations to all of our junior high average and year end champions that were crowned in Vernon.  We are sending 43 contestants - almost half of our total membership - to represent Region 1 in Gonzales this year.  That is awesome!

One of the good things about figuring results and points throughout the rodeo is that they are all done when I get home.  All that is left is proofing the results before printing checks.  So, checks were mailed today and your weekend entry fees will be deposited in the morning.  Results, official scores and final point standings have been posted, too.  The really BIG checks for Gonzales fees will be deposited on Wednesday.  Ouch!

Thanks again for a great weekend.  Hopefully, the high school rodeo in Lubbock will go just as well. :)
