Our year runs from August 1st through July 31st.
Our fall rodeos typically start the week after Labor Day and run
through the end of October or early November. In the spring,
we start at the end of February and go through the month of March.
The last day to be able to earn points for state finals
qualification is April 7th.
Region 1 does not have a
Region Finals. Awards will be presented to the Year End
Champions in each event at the Tri-State Finals Awards Banquet in
May. The top 10 in points in each event qualify to the State Finals
in Abilene. You can follow
this link to see information from
last year's State Finals.
There are fundraising requirements at the region and state level
that must be completed to remain eligible for rodeo competition:
-
Dodge Truck Tickets - each member of THSRA is required to sell
fifteen (15) tickets at $5 each - a total of $75. For
every five (5) tickets sold, you will receive one (1) free
ticket for the drawing.
-
Bloomer Trailer Ticket - each member of THSRA is required to
sell one (1) ticket for $50. Only $10 from each ticket
sold is sent to the state office. The remaining $40 stays
within Region 1.
-
THSRA Finals Program Ad - each member of THSRA is required to
sell at least one (1) $50 ad for the State Finals program.
Commissions are paid to members who sell $100 or more in ads.
There is also a state-wide sales contest with awards to the top
five (5) sellers.
-
Yard Bird Bingo - this game is described below. Each high
school and junior high member is required to sell two (2)
tickets per game - a total of $80.

CH GRAPHICS
The official logo merchandising company for Texas
High School Rodeo Association is CH Graphics out of Hempstead.
Below is a link to their website (click on logo below.)
When
you place an order through CH Grahics, make sure you let them know
that you are a member of Region 1. For every order placed by one of
our members, Region 1 receives a commission.
If CH Graphics is unable to attend one of our
rodeos this fall, they will send samples to try one for sizing.

GOT RODEO?
If our rodeo season just isn’t
long enough for you and you have some available weekends, consider
checking out the competition in neighboring regions or states.
You must be a member of Region 1, which is
part of Texas High School Rodeo Association and ultimately National High
School Rodeo Association to be eligible to enter as a non-member.
This means you are eligible for payoff but
not points.
You can only earn points in your home
region (or state.)
It is up to you to contact
the state or region secretary and meet their entry deadlines.
I am providing the websites for the associations within
proximity to Region 1 members.
Take a look at their schedules and see if any of the dates
work for you. It will be
good experience to compete against different competitors than the
ones you are used to seeing at our rodeos each week.
You must be in good standing with Region 1 to be able to
rodeo out of region. The
secretary you are entering with should confirm your eligibility with
me.
