REGION 1 JUNIOR HIGH NEWS
STATE FINALS DRAW
Click on your event to see when you drew up in
Gonzales. The first go is from the top of the list to the bottom.
The second go is in reverse order - bottom to top. With so many
contestants in four or more events, there will be some of you who
may compete in two events in the same performance. We have tried to
make sure you are not back-to-back at any time during the week. The
performance order of events is on the
State Finals page
if you want make sure your events are split up.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Membership is open to boys and girls in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
You must be in good standing, under 16 years of age and be
considered a full-time student passing at least 70% of your classes.
Annual membership dues are $200
and include a subscription to
Extreme Team News,
NHSRA Times &
Western Horseman magazines.

Our year runs from August 1st through July
31st. Our fall rodeos typically start the week after Labor Day
and run through the end of October or early November. In the
spring, we start at the end of February and go through the month of
March. The last day to be able to earn points for state finals
qualification is April 1st.
All Region 1 members may enter our Region
Finals in Vernon in the spring. Awards will be presented to
the Finals Champions and Year End Champions in each event. The top
10 in points in each event qualify to the State Finals in Gonzales.

There are fundraising requirements at the region and state level
that must be completed to remain eligible for rodeo competition:
Ram Truck Tickets - each member of TJHRA is required to sell
fifteen (15) tickets at $5 each - a total of $75. For
every five (5) tickets sold, you will receive one (1) free
ticket for the drawing.
Bloomer Trailer Ticket - each member of TJHRA is required to
sell one (1) ticket for $50. Only $10 from each ticket
sold is sent to the state office. The remaining $40 stays
within Region 1.
TJHRA Finals Program Ad - each member of TJHRA is required to
sell at least one (1) $50 ad for the State Finals program.
Commissions are paid to members who sell $100 or more in ads.
There is also a state-wide sales contest with awards to the top
five (5) sellers.
Region 1 Finals Program Ads - each member of Region 1 is
required to sell at least $50 in program ads for the Region 1
Yard Bird Bingo - this game is described below. Each high
school and junior high member is required to sell three (3)
tickets per game - a total of $90.
Rumble on the Red Trailer - each high school and junior high
member is required to sell one (1) $100 ticket. One half
of each ticket price ($50) is returned to us to be divided
proportionately among the associations.
Proceeds from the region-level fundraisers go towards awards, state
finalist bonuses and national finalists bonuses.
A $5 donation gets one
randomly drawn square.
A total of eight games
will be held throughout the year – each time we have a rodeo in
1 – Saturday October 26th – junior high rodeo
Game 2 – Sunday October 27th – junior high rodeo
Game 3 – Saturday March 8th – high school rodeo
Game 4 – Sunday
March 9th – high school rodeo
Game 5 – Saturday May 2nd – Tri-State Finals
Game 6 – Sunday May 3rd – Tri-State Finals
Members will sell
numbered tickets for each square on a 25x25 grid.
The grid squares ("game card") will
be randomly filled in with the numbers 1 through 625.
Chickens will be placed on the "game
card" and watched until they "choose" three winning squares.
First place pays $500; second place
pays $300 and third place pays $200.
Ticket holders need not be present

Proceeds from all of the
Yard Bird Bingo games will be divided evenly among Tri-State, Region
1 High School and Region 1 Junior High. Potential earnings of $4000 to each.
October game tickets
are due October 12th.
All spring game
tickets are due Februay 28th.
